Short answer: AEO pricing in the UAE usually follows one of three models: a one time AEO audit, a monthly AEO retainer, or a combined SEO and AEO retainer. What you pay depends far more on scope than on the label: the number of services and locations, whether Arabic is included, how competitive your category is in AI answers, and who produces the content. In a study of 1,146 GEO and AEO price quotes published in October 2026, one time audits ranged from USD 1,500 to 12,000 and the median monthly retainer was USD 6,850, which is about AED 5,510 to 44,070 for an audit and about AED 25,160 a month for a retainer.
Because AEO is new, quotes can differ several times over for what looks like the same service: in the same study, tiered retainers ranged from USD 2,500 to 25,000 a month. This guide explains what drives the price, how to compare a retainer with a project fee, and how to build a budget you can defend to your CEO before you speak to any provider.

How AEO pricing works in the UAE
Most providers price AEO in one of four ways. Knowing which one you are being quoted is the first step to comparing proposals fairly.
| Pricing model | How it works | Best for | Typical range (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|
| One time AEO audit | Fixed fee for a baseline, diagnosis and prioritised fix list | Testing AEO before committing, or checking an existing agency | About 5,510 to 44,070 (median about 15,790) |
| Monthly AEO retainer | Ongoing fee for content, schema, citation building and reporting | Businesses with healthy SEO that want AI visibility | About 11,020 to 55,090 per month (median about 26,440) |
| Combined SEO and AEO retainer | One monthly fee covering technical SEO, content, links and AEO | Businesses that need both foundations and AI visibility | No separate benchmark; compare against the AEO median of about 25,160 and the SEO median of about 17,410 per month |
| Consulting or hourly | Strategy and review time, your team does the work | Companies with an in house content and dev team | About 460 to 1,190 per hour (median about 750) |
Ranges come from First Page Sage’s 2026 study of 1,146 GEO and AEO quotes from 214 agencies, converted from USD at 3.6725 and rounded. The study has no regional breakdown, and its publisher is an agency that sells these services, so treat the figures as a market reference rather than UAE prices. For a full breakdown of what each model should include, see our guide to AEO services in Dubai.
What a market benchmark tells you about AEO pricing
There is no published survey of AEO pricing in the UAE yet. For traditional SEO, a widely cited benchmark is the global pricing survey by Ahrefs, which found that the most common monthly retainer among SEO providers was USD 501 to 1,000, the most common hourly rate was USD 75 to 100, and the most common project fee was USD 2,501 to 5,000.
Since the dirham is pegged at 3.6725 to the US dollar, those figures convert directly:
| Most common bracket (Ahrefs survey) | In USD | In AED (at 3.6725) |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly retainer | 501 to 1,000 | about 1,840 to 3,670 |
| Hourly rate | 75 to 100 | about 275 to 370 |
| Per project fee | 2,501 to 5,000 | about 9,185 to 18,360 |
Read these carefully. They are global, they cover SEO rather than AEO, and “most common” describes the crowded low end of the market, not what a competitive Dubai business should expect to pay. AEO generally costs more than SEO. In the First Page Sage study, the median GEO and AEO retainer was USD 6,850 a month against USD 4,740 for traditional SEO, about AED 25,160 versus AED 17,410. The extra cost reflects manual prompt testing and citation work, and in the UAE, separate Arabic coverage adds to the effort.
What drives AEO cost in Dubai and the UAE
Two quotes can both say “AEO retainer” and cover completely different amounts of work. These are the factors that move the price:
| Cost driver | Why it changes the price | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Number of services and locations | Each service and emirate needs its own prompts, pages and schema | High |
| Arabic coverage | Separate prompt testing, Arabic content and Arabic citation sources | High |
| Category competition | Real estate, healthcare and finance are crowded in AI answers, so citation work takes longer | High |
| Content production | Whether the provider writes and rewrites pages or your team does | High |
| Starting SEO health | Technical fixes may be needed before AEO work can pay off | Medium |
| Number of AI platforms tracked | More platforms mean more testing and reporting time | Medium |
| Reporting depth | Monthly prompt reruns and CRM attribution take analyst time | Medium |
| Development access | Whether the provider can implement schema and fixes directly | Low to medium |
When comparing quotes, line them up against this table. A lower price almost always means one of the high impact items has been left out, most often Arabic or off site citation work.
AEO retainer vs project pricing: which should you choose?
| Your situation | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You have never measured AI visibility | One time audit | You need a baseline before you can judge any retainer |
| You have an in house content team | Audit plus consulting | Pay for direction and reviews, not for writing you can do yourself |
| Competitors already dominate AI answers in your category | Monthly retainer | Citation building and content need steady effort over months |
| Your technical SEO is weak | Combined SEO and AEO retainer | Fixing foundations and AI visibility together avoids paying twice |
| You are launching a new brand | Small audit, then decide | There may be too little to optimise until reviews and coverage exist |
A practical rule: start with an audit unless you already have a credible baseline. Any provider unwilling to run a paid audit before a long retainer is asking you to commit before either side knows what the work involves. Our AEO audit checklist for UAE businesses shows what that audit should cover.
What your AEO budget should buy at each level
Use this as a scope guide when you set your budget. The point is to know what to expect at each level, so a quote that promises everything at the lowest price stands out immediately. Budget ranges map to the Starter, Growth and Advanced tiers in First Page Sage’s 2026 GEO and AEO pricing study, converted to AED.
| Level | Monthly budget (AED) | What it should include | What it usually leaves out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | About 6,610 to 15,420 (median about 10,830) | Monthly prompt tracking in English, schema fixes, two to four page rewrites, basic report | Arabic, off site citation building |
| Growth | About 16,530 to 40,400 (median about 27,180) | English and Arabic tracking, ongoing content restructuring, citation outreach, GA4 attribution | Large scale content production, PR |
| Competitive | About 40,400 to 80,800 (median about 53,620) | Full bilingual programme, new content for prompt gaps, sustained citation and PR work, CRM level reporting | Paid media and site rebuilds |
Hidden AEO costs to budget for
The provider’s fee is rarely the whole cost. Ask whether each of these is included or billed separately:
- AI visibility tracking tools: many providers pass on the subscription cost of prompt tracking software.
- Content writing: rewriting service pages and creating new answer pages is often quoted per page.
- Arabic writing: native Arabic content, not translation, is usually a separate line.
- Developer time: schema, rendering and robots.txt fixes may need your web team or an outside developer.
- Listings and PR: some directories, industry associations and press placements charge fees.
- VAT: confirm whether quotes include the 5% UAE VAT if the provider is VAT registered.
How to build an AEO budget you can take to your CEO
Instead of starting from a provider’s package, start from your own numbers. This four step method gives you a ceiling that is tied to revenue, not to what agencies happen to charge.
- Estimate the value of one lead. Average deal value multiplied by your lead to customer close rate.
- Estimate AI sourced leads. Check GA4 for current sessions from AI platforms and the leads they produce. If the number is near zero, use your target instead.
- Set a payback period. Decide how many months you can wait for a return, since AEO results build over several months rather than weeks.
- Calculate your ceiling. Monthly budget ceiling equals expected monthly AI sourced leads multiplied by lead value, divided by your target return multiple.
Here is a worked example with simple numbers. A Dubai B2B firm has an average deal value of AED 40,000 and closes 1 in 10 leads, so each lead is worth AED 4,000. It targets 10 AI sourced leads a month within a year, worth AED 40,000 a month in pipeline value. If leadership wants at least a 3x return, the monthly AEO budget ceiling is about AED 13,300. Any proposal above that needs a stronger case; anything far below it is probably missing scope.
To track the AI sourced leads in step 2, filter GA4 by session source using a pattern that matches the main AI platforms. Our guide on how to track ChatGPT brand mentions in the UAE covers the setup.

AEO pricing red flags in the UAE
- Pay per citation or guaranteed placement. No provider controls what an AI model says, so pricing tied to guaranteed mentions is either misleading or measuring something meaningless.
- A low fixed price with no scope document. Ask for the number of prompts, platforms, languages and pages covered.
- Long lock in before any baseline. Twelve month contracts signed before an audit put all the risk on you.
- Tool fees hidden inside the retainer. You should know how much of the fee pays for software and how much pays for work.
- No Arabic line item. If Arabic is not priced, it is probably not being done.
Many of these overlap with SEO contracts. Our lists of SEO contract red flags in the UAE and the SEO proposal checklist apply directly to AEO quotes too.
Questions to ask before you accept an AEO quote
- How many prompts, platforms and languages does this price cover?
- How many pages will you rewrite or create each month?
- Is Arabic content written natively or translated?
- Which tools are included, and what do they cost if billed separately?
- What is the minimum term, and what happens if the baseline shows little opportunity?
- Does the price include VAT?
- Who owns the content, prompt data and reports if we stop working together?
AEO pricing in the UAE: frequently asked questions
How much does AEO cost in Dubai?
It depends on scope. A 2026 study of 1,146 GEO and AEO quotes by First Page Sage found one time audits of USD 1,500 to 12,000 (about AED 5,510 to 44,070) and a median monthly retainer of USD 6,850 (about AED 25,160). Your price depends on the number of services, languages and how competitive your category is in AI answers.
Is AEO more expensive than SEO?
Usually, yes. In the same study, the median GEO and AEO retainer was USD 6,850 a month against USD 4,740 for traditional SEO. AEO adds manual prompt testing, off site citation work and, in the UAE, separate Arabic coverage.
Should I pay for an AEO audit before a retainer?
In most cases, yes. An audit gives you a baseline, shows how big the opportunity is and lets you judge whether a retainer is worth it. Be cautious of providers who want a long contract before any baseline exists.
Do AEO prices in the UAE include VAT?
Not always. Ask whether quotes include the 5% UAE VAT, especially when comparing a VAT registered agency with a freelancer or an overseas provider.
Can I reduce AEO costs by doing some of the work in house?
Yes. If your team can write content and make site changes, you can pay for an audit and ongoing consulting instead of a full retainer. The prompt baseline and citation gap analysis are the parts most worth outsourcing.
